T‑Mobile Polska increases its effectiveness

In the first half of 2014, T‑Mobile Polska increased the EBITDA margin by 2.2 percentage points and the cash contribution – by 6.1%.

As at the end of June 2014, T‑Mobile Polska S.A. was providing services to 15.675 million customers. In this same period, the pool of contract customers amounted to 6.930 million and the pool of the pre-paid services customers amounted to 8.745 million.

1_number_of_customersAt the beginning of May 2014, T‑Mobile Polska has started to offer banking services, provided by Alior Bank, under the T‑Mobile Usługi Bankowe brand; these services turned out to be very popular among the customers. An average of over 1,000 applications for opening an account is received daily. At the beginning of June, T‑Mobile introduced to market the JUMP! unlimited offers with access to the LTE/4G technology.

“T-Mobile has never had so much to offer to its customers as now. In the second quarter, we introduced banking services, LTE and new, truly unlimited JUMP! tariffs. They will allow the T‑Mobile customers to watch transmissions of football matches from Brazil live and free of charge and draw benefits from other promotions of such type in the future”, says Miroslav Rakowski, Chief Executive Officer of T‑Mobile Polska S.A., and adds “Our modernized network, JUMP! tariffs and effective cooperation with partners make T‑Mobile distinguish itself among other operators on the market.”

One of the largest network modernization projects in Europe is drawing to an end. The modernized network ensures the provision of greater network range and better parameters to the T‑Mobile customers, especially in terms of access to the high speed Internet. Currently, T‑Mobile Polska provides the network coverage within UMTS technology for 97% of the country’s population and within LTE/4G technology – for nearly 54% of the country’s population. Along with the constantly increasing access to the high speed Internet in T‑Mobile Polska, the amount of data transferred by the T‑Mobile customers is also growing. In June 2014, i.e. in the first month when the T‑Mobile customers were able to use the LTE network, over 3.2 thousand TB were transferred.

The T‑Mobile Polska’s revenues in the first half of 2014 were by 9.8% lower when compared to the same period last year. The lower Company’s revenues were a result of, inter alia, the regulatory decisions related to reducing MTR rates in Poland by 48% as of 1 July 2013. Currently, T‑Mobile Polska’s revenues show positive trend and have amounted to PLN 1.522 billion in the second quarter, by 4% more than in the first quarter of 2014.

3_cash_contribution In the first half of 2014, the EBITDA of T‑Mobile Polska was by 4.3% lower than in 2013. In the same period, the EBITDA margin amounted to 38.4% and was by 2.2 percentage points higher than in the same period last year. In the second quarter of 2014, the EBIDTA of T‑Mobile Polska amounted to PLN 589 million and was by 5.7% higher than in the first quarter of 2014.
