Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and T‑Mobile Poland have activated Europe’s first commercial deployment of a cloud-native microservices-based Mobility Management Entity (cMME) node at one of T‑Mobile Poland’s data centers in Poland.

As part of T‑Mobile Poland’s recent commercial activation, in-service upgrades of microservice applications were demonstrated to provide an agile platform capable of launching new services faster and without service degradation.

New 5G use cases are forecast to contribute more than EUR 10.4 billion in net benefits to Poland’s GDP in the coming years, according to a recent report by Analysis Mason and Ericsson.

Petri Pehkonen, CTIO T‑Mobile Poland, says: We are very happy with this initiative completed in a strong cooperation with Ericsson. We see this deliverable as part of our existing service portfolio but also as part of our 5G roadmap in the cloud.

Alvise Carlon, Ericsson Head of Digital Services Europe and Latin America, says: With 5G, service providers need faster upgrades and more agile deployment of new services without impacting existing network operations. With this activation, T‑Mobile Poland and Ericsson have laid a significant marker for smarter networks with the deployment of commercial cloud native MME. This will be key in making smarter business through supporting new 5G revenue streams for both T‑Mobile Poland and their customers for years to come.

  • T‑Mobile Poland becomes first in Europe to deploy cloud-native microservices-based Mobility Management Entity (cMME) application on a live network together with Ericsson
  • Using cloud-native microservices considerably improves time to market for new revenue generating services for consumers and enterprises in addition to operational efficiency for service providers.
  • More than 50,000 subscribers connected to the cMME solution served from T‑Mobile data center
